It is a blessing that in the same land, we can choose between mountains, beaches, meadows, desert, mangroves, islands, forests and so on to travel to. Given the diversity of this Island nation, the food here is no wonder a treat to the taste buds. From spicy to bland, from buttery to dry, from sweet to sour, ask and you will have your plate full. These are some of the food we had there during our time but this is not even 10% of what is available on the island. The seafood especially is a department which will require you more than 10 days to explore to its full potential. So, food lovers mark this country!

The name is a historic reference to the trade connections that Odisha had with Bali and other distant Indonesian islands. The festival is a commemoration of the historical maritime heritage of Odisha. It pays tribute to the ancient mariners of Odisha who set sail to trade with Bali, Sumatra, Java, and other Indonesian islands. With almost no prior experience of ocean diving, this will always be special to us. An entire day was spent in the crystal clear waters of the open ocean and half of the time we couldn't fathom what magic had unfolded in front of us. And while we still have a long way to master the skill, this shallow dive was testimony to the fact that we have a wonderful world underwater and we must do everything to preserve it at all costs. For a change, we were thrilled to be here in the open Indian Ocean that meets the Pacific !💙

It's not an easy place to reach, but the good news

It's not an easy place to reach, but the good news is it's not that offbeat or remote as well. It's pretty well-connected with speedboats from its two nearest Islands Bali and Lombok. It's called the "party island" (more on it coming up in future reels), but if you are not a party-kinda person, heck, just lie on the beautiful white sand beaches this island has to offer and watch the serene sunsets with Mt.Agung in the background. Giving up a not-so-secret strategy - do both. To shoot, we had to wait for 2 days for this bright orange sunset, but in the end, it was all worth it. Embarking on the arduous trek to Gokyo, Nepal, feels like chasing a dream through rugged terrains and relentless ascents. Every step echoes the determination it takes to reach the pristine beauty that awaits at the top. It literally taught us to conquer our own mountains.

PS: The mountain in the video is Cho Oyu, the 6th highest mountain in the world, standing at a mammoth 8188m/26864ft.

Let us tell you a story. A story about why we feel you should take the path less trodden. Climbing this pass would have been way easy. But on that day, a day full of snow, with intermittent hailstorms and cold Arctic-like winds, we tried to cross a glacier with one pair of crampons. We put on one crampon each and that was the hardest walk we have ever undertaken.
.
But once we came down, there was this immense sense of gratification and satisfaction that we had never experienced before. We want you to feel that. Taking hits in the short term for greater good in the long term is all the motivation that you should need.

Our Frustrating Lukla Odyssey had a happy ending - Part 2
When we reached Kathmandu airport, we got to know that we were embarking upon a helicopter journey to Lukla as the weather had cleared up but the weather window was narrow. Thrilled to finally fly out of Kathmandu, we kept looking down the lush green valley of Kathmandu and couldn't stop but admire its beauty. How quickly time passed we had no idea until we saw a random patch on a hill where our heli landed. The village was Surke, 10km below Lukla. So in a way, we got a headstart in our trek. All in all, it was definitely a lifetime memory for both of us 🙂

As much as we were excited to land in Lukla, notorious for being the most dangerous airstrip in the world, we went through a series of emotions before we finally began our Everest High Passes 🙂

1. Kathmandu Darbar Square
2. Patan Darbar Square
3. Bhaktapur Darbar Square

Our personal favourite was Patan as it was comparatively less crowded. These sites are a treat to the eyes if you're searching for some old & raw architecture.
